Support HB 330

Public Safety Officer Fire FightersWe learned some good news about the new statute making it easier for firefighters to establish that their cancer diagnosis is related to their job duties and establish work comp coverage – municipalities have been contesting the claims out of concern for the high cost of the claims being assessed against already financially strapped municipalities.

HB 330, (*title below) proposes that the costs would instead be assessed against the State surplus fund. The Ohio Association of Justice, which our firm belongs to, supports the bill. It is pending in the Ohio House Insurance Committee. It is sponsored by R Rep. Thomas Patton in Ohio District 7. Please contact your state congresspeople and voice your support for this bill!

*Long Title: To amend section 4123.68 of the Revised Code regarding charging workers’ compensation experience in firefighter cancer claims.
