In an interesting turn of events for Cincinnati workers compensation law, the Bureau of Workers Compensation was recently accused of overcharging some companies for their insurance between approximately 2001 and 2008. A great many of these companies were not even aware that they were being overcharged, but once the discrepancies were discovered, a class-action lawsuit was undertaken to resolve the issue.
While a trial court did rule in favor of the businesses bringing the suit, the BWC appealed the ruling and quickly pushed for settlement in the interim. The class approved a settlement of less than half of what was owed rather than risk losing the entirety. More details are available in the official settlement agreement.
